Gallery Greeter Volunteer - Job Description
The Arizona Jewish Historical Society seeks dedicated volunteers to be a Gallery Greeter for our exhibits. Some events or tours involve flexible hours to be scheduled in advance subject to availability.
Training/Background Needed: A basic understanding of how to connect with visitors and the main message of Cutler-Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center’s current exhibit. Elementary familiarity with visitor relationships is preferred. Comprehension of the Arizona Jewish Historical Society’s mission and purpose is helpful. Small technological capability to explain and operate holographic and virtual reality presentations.
Time Commitment: This position requires a small amount of training and offers a flexible time commitment. Only absolute requirement is that time committed is time fulfilled—show up when you say you will.
Volunteer Gallery Greeters will work under the supervision and direction of our Education Director, Gallery Coordinator, and/or other proper staff.
Job Description includes but is not limited to the following:
Making visitors feel welcome. Explanation of the identity of the Arizona Jewish Historical Society and its community role as a cultural, historic, archival institution.
Sharing an elementary history of the building and its historic relevance.
Providing an overview and the take-away message of current exhibit.
Instructing and demonstrating holographic and virtual reality presentations to visitors.
Maintaining quantitative visitor attendance.
Assisting in administrative exhibit functions as needed.
